KANYE WEST – “FOLLOW GOD” IS NO. 1 ON THE BILLBOARD “HOT 100 GOSPEL” THIS WEEK

Kanye West starts “Follow God” — which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (dated 4th April 2020) — with an all-too-familiar declaration: “Father, I stretch/ Stretch my hands to You.”

What sounds like a reference to his earlier song “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” from 2016’s The Life of Pablo is a flipped sample recording of Whole Truth’s “Can You Lose by Following God.” The lead single from Jesus Is King, which is currently sitting atop the Billboard 200 throne, marks Ye’s 18th career top 10 hit on the Hot 100.

In the song, West talks about connecting to his father — both his literal father Ray West and God — while unplugging from the evil ways of social media.
